We are seeking an experienced Developer Contributions Principal Planner to lead the negotiation and management of developer contributions, driving sustainable and impactful development projects.
Role Overview
As the Developer Contributions Principal Planner, you will be responsible for overseeing and negotiating planning obligations, ensuring compliance with policies and maximizing contributions for infrastructure and community benefits. This is a strategic role that requires strong negotiation skills, policy knowledge, and a collaborative approach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the negotiation and management of developer contributions, including Section 106 agreements and Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL).
- Collaborate with developers, stakeholders, and local authorities to ensure contributions align with policy requirements and community needs.
- Provide expert advice on planning obligations and policies to internal teams and external partners.
- Monitor and report on developer contributions, ensuring timely delivery of obligations and compliance with agreements.
- Prepare and present reports, recommendations, and evidence for planning committees and public inquiries.
- Stay updated on changes in planning legislation and policy, ensuring the organization remains compliant and proactive.
- Foster relationships with stakeholders to support effective negotiation and delivery of contributions.
- Support the development of planning policies and strategies that enhance the delivery of infrastructure and community benefits.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in planning, with a focus on developer contributions and planning obligations.
- Strong understanding of Section 106 agreements, CIL regulations, and relevant planning policies.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and policy compliance.
- Experience in preparing reports and presenting findings to committees or public inquiries.
- Familiarity with planning legislation, procedures, and best practices.
- Degree in Town Planning, Urban Development, or a related field; RTPI membership is highly desirable.
