Lead Technical Author

Role Overview
As a Lead Technical Author, you will manage the creation, maintenance, and delivery of technical documentation, working closely with cross-functional teams. This role requires excellent communication skills, a deep understanding of technical concepts, and the ability to translate complex information into user-friendly content.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, development, and delivery of technical documentation, including manuals, guides, and online help.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and design teams to gather technical information and ensure documentation accuracy.
- Establish and maintain documentation standards, templates, and best practices.
- Oversee and mentor a team of technical authors, ensuring high-quality output and professional development.
- Conduct content reviews, edits, and updates to ensure consistency and compliance with industry standards.
- Manage multiple documentation projects, meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks effectively.
- Engage with end-users and stakeholders to gather feedback and enhance documentation usability.
- Stay updated on emerging trends and tools in technical writing and integrate them into processes.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Technical Author, with a track record of producing high-quality technical documentation.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience mentoring or managing technical writers.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information.
- Proficiency in using authoring tools such as Adobe FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, or similar.
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and version control tools like Git.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of industry standards, such as DITA, and experience with structured authoring is desirable.
- Degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; relevant certifications are a plus.
